The origin of the hospital affiliated with the Tokyo University Medical School (Tokyo University Hospital) started in 1858 with the establishment of the Kanda Otamae Ike endowed pox. In 2008, it celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding, and is a hospital with a history and tradition that has supported modern medical education in Japan. Currently, the University of Tokyo Hospital has 1,217 beds and has about 4,000 staff members to treat 76,000 outpatients and 390,000 inpatients a year. In order to study the highest level of clinical medicine, we are strengthening the functions of research support organizations such as the Translational Research Center (TR), the Unit for Early and Exploratory Clinical Development, and the Clinical Research Support Center.
